The download stops halfway through the texture files and sometimes other places.

I sure did.

When loading the Old China level, I get this error:

Error(s) in Data/GLSL/plant_shiney.frag
ERROR: 0.24: 'rand' : function already has a body

Then the game crashes if I hit either Retry or Continue.

I have a quic fix for it
Go to Overgrowth/Data/GLSL and find now plant_shiney.frag delete it. Now find plant.frag and make a coppy of it and rename it to plant_shiney.frag
It should make the trick

I don't quite understand what you did and what you did'nt
so here is my question
did you delete plant_shiney.frag and made new plant_shiney.frag from plant.frag?

It's too bad this was released under a non-commercial license so it won't be able to be incorporated into the actual game. But it looks fantastic nonetheless congrats on the release.

Just because the assets have been released under one agreement, doesn't mean that Markuss can't also release the assets to someone else for a commercial project. Since he owns exclusive rights, he can license them as he sees fit.
That being said, and note that I LOVE these assets, I think they aren't a good fit in the Overgrowth universe. These are based too much in a specific time and place, where as overgrowth does not exist in relation to the world we live in. So I think they are in the appropriate place... as an amazing modding tool for the community. Freely available to all to use. It's awesome!
