Basically, right now the internal build looks similar to Lugaru 1 minus the structures and baddies. Basically Turner can run around a terrain like in the movie you saw on the blog and roll, flip, etc. using the procedural animation system. Rigid body dynamics hasn't been coded yet so although the artists have been pumping out hundreds of models to use in L2, you can't interact with them yet.

Since that blog post David has been working on perfecting the grass, fur, and majorly optimizing the game. He has finished that and is now starting on the fighting system. I would not be surprised if in several weeks Lugaru 2 will be just as functional as Lugaru 1 but with all of the next generation graphics features you saw on the blog.

I think that the things you do in a game should be fun. Sine you will have more reason to run and jump in Lugaru 2, it seems like this part of the game should be tested and tweaked so that it is fun.

You know, could be.
It's surprising how fast David's team works on Lugaru 2, and the best part is that it's documented. Games like Brothers in Arms: Hells highway are playable right now but releasing the game won't be until 2007! They don't even update what they're doing... which is natural considering they aren't doing anything besides designing maps, models and who knows what else; since they already have the Unreal Engine 3 working for them. Anyways, most games won't even bother demonstrating their games to the public. That game only has two videos for it and the real video isn't even for people, it's for the news reporters and such. So you never know, we can only hope that everything David shows to the big timers, he'll show to us too.

This is the example of BIA demonstrating stuff to everyone but to us! Had to be stolen from E3 :o You will not find this video at Ubisoft's and Gearboxes' site nor featured on anyone else's like gamespot and gametrailers.

A playable demo is a whole different story. I was reffering to demonstrating the game. It's a great idea to give personel demonstrations for the press, I just didn't see why they couldn't just release that footage to the public. It was like something bad would happen if they did that.

But yeah, since David and Jeff are taking their time updating the blog, that's just as good.

Hey what are you reffering to Ninjas? Is there something I missed about the gameplay? Are you making a statement on Endorphin, or was the comment you were reffering to get deleted? If it's just the statement then cool, the things you do in Lugaru 2 are going to be the funnest things in that game.

There was something that irked me more about the E3 LucasArts thing where Jim Ward or whatever his name talked about Euphoria and its effect on the Indiana Jones game among other things. He said that we wouldn't ever again be seeing games like the Monkey Island series anymore. He said something along the lines of once they had done all the new ideas they had for games, then maybe they could move onto a sequel to series like that or games like Full Throttle and Day Of The Tentacle (I've never played either of these, but they are supposed to be legendary games). I'm pretty sure he was saying that in a sarcastic way, wasn't he? He said something about 2015 would be a likely date for a sequel to the Monkey Island series if there ever even was one. This kind of attitude breaks my heart.

That was all slightly off topic, but I felt it needed to be said.

I was reffering to Rudel's idea that you can't make a game with just running and jumping (as have been demonstrated in the blog).

Many of my favorite games are based around running and jumping. Since Lugaru 2 will probably take orders of magnitude longer to complete than Lugaru, it stand to reason that environemt negotiation will feature more in the gameplay. If the player is going to spend a lot of time moving around, it is important that that aspect of the game is just as much fun as fighting, or else why put it in the game?

So, when you see video of Turner moving around and jumping what you are seeing is something that is important to the final game and shouldn't be trivialized as non-important simply because it isn't combat.

oh oh, that's what you meant. I thought there was something like a comment that said the movement was boring, and it needed tuning. Or for some reason I thought you were reffering that Euphoria was made so you can have fun. I was a long ways off.

But cool, platform levels like what Staffshock created are fun. It's good to know that Lugaru2 will more of these kinds of environments. Right now that movement looks great. I'm looking forward to any improvements you guys can come up with to make it even cooler, even comparable to how much fun rabbit fighting is!

Unlike Oblivion, I should have never tried out 3rd person in that game. Should've just stuck to first person view because now I realize how the movement looks in that game. It really throws you off when you find out that your character is slide running around the field and hovering off the side of platforms when you have to jump from one place to another.

Will there be something along the lines of any jumping puzzles or anything in Lugaru 2? I suppose it has probably been mentioned before but certain levels could be created as obstacle courses with the intended goal of reaching a certain point in a level.

Also, before, did Jeff mention something about all maps being created by certain users be downloadable all from the game or something? I think I heard something along those lines. If that's so, would you be able to record your scores/times on challenges to a certain point where everyone could access them and see who got the highest scores on certain levels? A score database of some sort?

Or does that make any sense to people reading? I'm not sure.
